We have a bunch of chew toys and we are also going to enroll her in puppy classes to help train her. When you take izzy on walks does she always have her head down and always putting things in her mouth?
Hi, Well thank you for all the advice. She is doing good with me of not biting me and my wife is actually putting her in timeout which is actually comical because she puts her head down and slowly goes to the bathroom (her timeout spot) but with my daughters its another story my older one just looks at her and charlie thinks fair play and goes after her and then she starts running around. I have to train my daughter first i guess lol. My younger daughter figured if you bite me i will bite you back which is also funny to see especially the first time she tried. but will get there with some time and patience.
If you don't want her to bite then you should never encourage this and if she does just stop playing right away and ignore her for a few minutes ( walk away, no eye contact) that makes them very upset and eventually they learn. Also praise her when she is doing something right, for example if I'm seating on the couch and I noticed her laying on the ground chewing on her toy like she is supposed to I say "good girl". Always praise good behavior. One more thing (sorry I have a scattered brain) if you catch her chewing on something that she is not suppose to say no and direct her to a chew toy, you must help her and show her the answer!
Izzy just lost her fangs yesterday but she is still teething! My trainer told me to always keep 6 toys out at a time and rotate them since they get bored. I rotate every 3 days so we have lots of toys. I decided to spend more money at petco getting new toys than having to replace furniture. Once I started to do this she stopped chewing on things but I'm still extra careful with what I leave on the floor.... For example my shoes! She never bite me but she would do that to my boyfriend so I told him to ignore her if she tried to bite him when playing.... You must be consistent.
(First post was getting long) I bought hardy pet complete as a supplement and also e grizzly salmon oil because my bay is shedding like crazy. Also I got her Fromm from an online store - petflow.com (great price, free delivery). I noticed that her tear stains and pink chin were gone once I made the switch to grain free and no chicken.
Glad to know Charlie is doing well with potty training, I may have accidents every now and then but I am also lucky to have a baby that sleeps through the night. That is a blessing! I did read your post on the black spot and saw the picture, I don't have this problem w izzy, she just went from having a pretty pink skin color to develop some light black round spots but that's all over her body and the vet said that is normal. Did you try to use the apple cider vinegar? Are you giving her any supplement? Filtered water? How often do u bath her and does she spend more time indoors?
Hi there, Charlie is so cute! Izzy is a little over 4 months now and I feel blessed to have found this website. What kind of questions do you have w ur baby? Since I joined this site I learned a few essentials tips: potty training guidance, changed my baby to Fromm beef frittata (use can pumpkin during the transition, it helps a lot), learned about cherry eye (my baby just had surgery this past week), got us a bulldog vet expert (a must!) And many other things. I spend more time here reading than any other website! Just let me know your questions and we can exchange experiences since we are both handling female puppies!
