~Louie~ English Bulldog Available for Adoption in Louisiana
Louie is a lovable bear of a dog who has gone through some big time changes in the last couple weeks!
You see, Louie has spent the majority of his life thus far relegated to being a "yard dog," which is difficult for any dog in Louisiana, but especially an English Bulldog. When his family didn't feel like dealing with him anymore, he was surrendered to a local shelter who then called us.
Louie is overdue for attention and he obviously knows it. He loves to greet everyone he meets and is friendly as can be. When meeting other dogs, Louie drops his front end into a play position and his body language reads "Let's be friends!"
Not surprisingly for dogs in Louisiana who are not cared for properly, Louie has been diagnosed with heartworm infection. He will soon begin treatment that takes 2-3 months but he'll make a full recovery. During this time, he will need to be kept relatively calm. This means he can still get love and play inside the house, be around other dogs, and also go for walks, but he is not allowed to run outside for long periods of time or play for too long. (This treatment is easier with a bulldog than other dogs).
Though all dogs are generally incredibly loving and appreciative, you can imagine what becoming a part of a family will mean to this special guy.
