Scooby came to IBR alongside his sister, Daphne, after family changes prevented them from staying in their current home and due to no fault of their own. They are not a bonded pair, therefore they’ll be adopted separately to vastly increase their chances of finding a perfect home. If a family decides they’d like to reunite the pair, IBR would support a joint adoption.

Scooby is a chunky boy, and he is very food motivated. We will work on his summer body whist in rescue but anticipate he will likely stay around 55 pounds. He is intensively strong and initially pulls on a leash. He loves to go on adventures to visit neighbors or go for a walk. He settles down in about 5/7 minutes, but during that time, he will need a strong leader.

Scooby is a very good boy. Appears to be housebroken, crate trained and very social. He has been a perfect citizen with the other dogs and teens in his foster home. He would do fine with smaller children (6-8 years old), with the understanding, if someone is holding food, he will steal it (see food motivated comment above). That could be very scary to a small child, so he must go to a home with only dog savvy children in this age range.

Scooby has shown his protective side already. In his current foster home, the foster dad was wrestling with the other dogs, and Scooby alerted the foster dad. He barked twice, and then backed away. No growling or teeth, and he slowly approached afterwards to check out the scene. This is is also something that will have to be carefully considered as he would likely need to be crated during times in which he may mistake playing for aggression by humans. We have observed no signs of aggression on his part, but want to set him up for the best possible success in his forever home.

Scooby is pretty laid back. He doesnt seem to care much about toys, but does love a human lap to lie on. He is a snuggler and gives the sloppiest kisses. Speaking of sloppy, if you are opposed to your kitchen floor being covered in dog dribbles/puddles, do not apply. His jowls are nothing short of massive and he makes an unbelievable mess when he drinks. Its not for the faint of heart. Buy stock in Swiffer if you plan to adopt this nugget.
