Hugo was surrendered to IBR when his parents could no longer give him the time that he needed and deserved.
Hugo is absolutely precious! He is in perfect health, and he looks like a little football. He is house trained, loves to sleep and play with his 4 legged foster sister. He is also in great health!
Hugo does have some separation anxiety due to being left alone so much in his former life. He must be crated when left alone, and he is given composure to help keep him calm while his humans are gone. He will greet you with the highest enthusiasm when you return home.
He loves to go on walks, follow his humans everywhere, snore, treats, fetching his ball and having his butt scratched. Hugo knows his basic commands and loves to shake your hand. He has never met a person he didn't love to show his abundance of affection.
MARCH UPDATE:
Hugo continues to be an easy going boy. He continues to have free roaming in the house while someone is home, and is crated when left alone. He has gone from hating his crate to walking into his crate all on his own…and of course he gets a treat once he gets inside his crate : ). He hasn’t gone potty on the floor for over a month, and I’m sure he was only doing it out of confusion and when he was first left alone in his crate. Hugo loves to play with his toys and especially loves to squeak his bouncy ball. His favorite pastime is following you everywhere you go or napping on his blanket on the couch or his bed.
Hugo loves attention, being touched and near someone, but is not really into cuddling with his humans. He sleeps on a bed directly beside his human’s bed. He is also far more trusting with his foster family then when he first arrived.
He struggles with informing his humans when he needs to go outside, but is on a potty schedule with his foster sister which seems to work great. He does sometimes need a little extra time outside to sniff out a spot, and would prefer if his human went with him.
Hugo likes to meet new people and play with other dogs at the park. His only issue with people is his protectiveness of his home. Hugo needs to be introduced slowly to all those who enter the front door. Once visitors enter the front door and he realizes they are not there to hurt you, he will love them as he loves all people.
Hugo would make an excellent addition to any family. He is happy just being close to his people at all times and accepting all their love.
