BIO:

Cooper is a young, lively French Bulldog that is very sweet and completely adorable!

Cooper was surrendered by his owner due to a diagnosis of megaesophagus. We will be consulting with IBR's veterinary partners regarding a treatment plan for him so that his condition can be managed appropriately.

JANUARY UPDATE: We are working on finding a solution for Cooper to keep him healthy and happy despite his megaesophagus. This condition causes him to regurgitate his food and water after every meal. When he vomits, he risks aspirating it into his lungs and causing more problems. He is currently only 15 pounds because of it.

Cooper was recently neutered and his nares were widened to help with his difficulty breathing.

Despite his health issues, Cooper is so much fun and still very much a puppy! He is good with kids, dogs and cats. He is crate trained and his foster mom is working with him on being completely house trained.

FEBRUARY UPDATE: Cooper is gaining weight!! He received his donated Bailey chair at the end of January and it is really helping to manage his megaesophagus. He has not regurgitated for several weeks. He knows when it is time to eat and is very excited to sit in his chair! He is spoon fed moistened dry dog food and then has to sit and wait in his chair for about 20 minutes afterward to ensure the food travels to his stomach. He can even handle small amounts of water.

Cooper doesn't let the megaesophagus slow him down, either. He is very active and LOVES to play! He is just incredibly happy all the time. He loves people and does well with other dogs and cats, too. He thinks everyone is his best friend! He is still working on house training and does occasionally urinate a little bit when he gets excited.

Cooper's potential furever family will need to be proactive in managing his megaesophagus. While he is stable right now, he could experience flare ups in the future. He is at high risk of aspiration pneumonia if regurgitation occurs.

MARCH UPDATE: Cooper is doing fantastic! His megaesophagus is under control and he really acts like a normal pup except that he eats in his chair. He hasn't had any regurgitation and house training is going well. He just needs the perfect home that would be able to accomodate his feeding schedule.

APRIL UPDATE: Cooper went to the Butler Bulldog Jog and loved it! He played with the other dogs and met tons of "Cooper Fans." Wow, does he have a lot of fans! Thank you so much for all the support for this cutie. He is really hoping to find the right home very soon.

Cooper is doing fabulous! He takes medication in the morning and evening and eats his meals in his Bailey Chair really well. For a dog with megaesophagus, he seems to have a fairly mild case. We are thrilled that he has become so healthy with the help of Indiana Bulldog Rescue and Bailey Chairs 4 Dogs.

Please consider sponsoring Cooper's medical care while he is in rescue. If you are interested in making Cooper a part of your family, please mention him by name when filling out an adoption application.
