Rachael was pulled from a shelter and is new to IBR. So far we know she likes car rides and did great with a bath and nail clipping. She has only just begun to be introduced to her foster fur sibling, but neither seems to be acting aggressivly toward each other.
Upon vetting, we did discover that Rachael is unfortunately heartworm positive. It's sad, because this disease is so easily preventable! The vet put her on an antibiotic to clear up a couple infections and she will start the three shot series heartworm treatment later this month. This can be a costly and risky procedure, Rachael could really use some sponsors to help out with it.
Despite not feeling well, Rachael is a sweet, lazy bullie girl. The only time her foster mom has seen her run was when she was coming back inside from potty time. Her foster mom's grandkids came over and loved all over Rachael and she was very gentle and just soaked up the attention.
Rachael seems to be completely house trained and has not had an accident in the house. Other than the heartworms, the vet said she is pretty healthy. Even her ears are in good shape and her teeth look really good. She will have to wait to be spayed until after the heartworm treatment is complete.
