BIO:

AJ is a shelter pull from Indianapolis Animal Care & Control. He was filthy and suffering from a skin infection, so was taken to the vet immediately. He is currently on oral antibiotics and will be visiting the vet again for a re-check soon. He is also rather thin and needs to gain some weight.

In spite of his poor physical condition, AJ has a great personality! He enjoys being around his foster family and LOVES cuddling. He is making friends with the other dog in the house. He hasn't met any cats or young children yet, but has been fine with older children.

So far, AJ appears to be crate and house trained, although he does not signal when he needs to go out. He does play with toys, but it's not a top priority for him.

AJ does seem to have a slight problem with separation anxiety when left loose in the house, but is fine alone when crated. He is overall a very sweet boy who really just wants a person to snuggle up with!

JULY UPDATE: AJ has settled in to his foster home well and loves being a full member of all family activities. He likes to play tug-of-war, tag and other "bulldog" games with his two foster fur siblings. He also enjoys his daily walks, obedience work and cuddling with his foster family. He will now "sit" on command for a treat! He's even slowly gaining weight, but still has a ways to go.

AJ enjoys the company of other dogs, but it has been observed that he tends to get anxious in a large pack (more than 3 other dogs), especially when there is a lot of activity. While he has a lot of energy, he seems to do best in a home or environment that is a little lower-key. When he gets anxious, that is when his dominance issues are displayed (attempting to hump other dogs, lunging at other dogs, object/toy aggression). These are all behaviors that his foster mom continues to work on with him.

AJ also had another re-check with the vet for his skin infection. He is making progress, but is still on oral antibiotics. He had a full blood panel done to check for any other issues, but all results were within normal ranges.

Please consider sponsoring AJ's medical care while he is in rescue. If you think you'd like to add AJ to your family, mention him by name when filling out an adoption application.
