BIO:

Sophie's foster mom says she is an absolute delight to have around the house. She is a very timid and sweet natured girl who is crate trained and loves to go off into her crate for quiet times and naps. She is also housebroken, but especially in the cold wants to come right back inside once potty time is over.

Sophie listens well and has picked up quickly on commands. She watches and listens to her foster mom very inquisitevely for cues! She got along really quickly with her two bullie foster sisters and is great with the kids in the home.

Sophie doesn't really understand how to play with toys yet or even what they are, but she is working on it. She loves any and all visitors and is polite by not jumping on people. She rides well in a car and was a very well-behaved lady at the vet's office.

Like many bullies, Sophie has dry eye which will require her to have eye drops daily for the remainder of her life. It's easily managed and fairly inexpensive to maintain. She is a rather large girl as well, but her foster mom has her on a great diet now and she should slim down nicely. She also doesn't seem to mind sharing her kibble with her foster sisters.

Sophie would do well in almost any home situation, whether with other dogs, kids or just some attentive parents. She is a fliexible girl that is just looking for a furever home to love her!

FEBRUARY UPDATE: Sophie is a gorgeous, sweet girl. She gets along very well with her foster bullie sisters and also visiting dogs. She listens well, loves her crate, has never had any accidents in the house and loves all people, especially kids.

Sophie is a gentle giant. At 70 pounds, she could easily bull her way through the house, other dogs or her foster mom's smaller kids, but she is just the sweetest thing ever. She has never barked at anyone or anything since being with her foster family. She is a very calm girl but will give you the occasional butt wiggle to let you know she is happy.

Sophie came into rescue with a staph infection that was causing her fur to fall out. In just a few weeks of treatment with antibiotics, she is improving substantially. Her fur is already almost fully returned and she is otherwise a well-adjusted girl. Sophie does have dry eye, which requires daily drops, but she tolerates them well and doesn't fight (even though she isn't a fan of having them administered). The drops are relatively inexpensive and admininstering them isn't very time consuming, just a few minutes per day.

Sophie knows sit and shake. As a typical bullie girl, she chooses when and if she will comply with such commands, but most often she is a willing participant. She is also a very good eater, so her foster mom does have to watch her intake closely, as she is maybe a few pounds overweight which is being addressed.

APRIL UPDATE: Sophie is just the total package. She is a lovable girl with so much personality. She is very gentle with everyone, including her fur foster sisters and human brother and sister.

Sophie loves her crate, does great on a leash, stays with her foster mom off of the leash, is fully housebroken and crate trained. She is a quiet girl, no barking whatsoever. She will wait to be invited onto the sofa, but is perfectly fine to rest on the floor near her people.

Sophie is doing well on her diet and has lost 8 pounds so far! She does have dry eye, which requires daily drops and to have her eyes wiped clean regularly, but she is always an agreeable little girl and tolerates it well.

Sophie would make a great addition to any family!

JULY UPDATE: Sophie continues to be absolutely perfect, we can't imagine how her family hasn't come along yet! She is very polite in her foster home and easy for everyone to get along with. She is crate and house trained, gets along with her foster siblings and listens very well. She walks well on a leash, albeit not very far as with most low-energy bullies. She has no concept of how to play with dog toys but on occasion will get frisky and play chase with her human siblings.

Sophie does have allergies. Mostly outdoor seasonal type allergies that are pretty well controlled on a daily OTC medication regimen of 2 Benedryl and 1 Zyrtec. She takes the medication without issue in a small piece of cheese.

Sophie is all heart and just so sweet. She loves to be with her humans, which sometimes means you may end up with a bullie in your lap but only if you are agreeable. Otherwise she is happy to sit on the floor. She will tap you with her paw to let you know she is there if you haven't acknowledged her, which her foster family thinks is the cutest thing they have ever seen.

Sophie adores her crate and will happily sleep all night and nap in it without being told to do so. She rarely barks, so will not alert you when she needs to go out but rather she sits at the door until someone in the house discovers her.

If you think you might be interested in adopting Sophie, mention her by name when filling out an adoption application. If you're not quite ready to adopt but would like to help, please consider sponsoring her.
