Gracie is an Olde English Bulldog whose previous owner is experiencing health problems and is no longer able to care for her. We will share more information on Gracie as we get to know her better.
MARCH UPDATE: Gracie is a very sweet girl. She is unsure why she is no longer with her former owner, but she has made herself at home quickly in her new foster home. She is very energetic, but doesn't quite know how to play. She knows the basic commands of "sit" and "stay" but she will need continued training in manners.
Gracie likes to make her self comfy wherever she wants, but does understand "off." She also likes to steal items off the counters so you have to keep an eye on her. She goes into her crate well and is partially potty trained. She has had a few accidents in the house, but seems to understand that she should go outside.
Gracie is a little timid. She jumps at little noises or sudden movements. Her foster mom isn't sure if this is just because of the new surroundings or not. She is also a messy eater and if any other pets are nearby while she's eating, she is very jumpy.
Gracie does have an aggression level towards other dogs. If you keep your eye on her and tell her to leave it, she seems to do well. However, her foster mom stresses, you HAVE to keep an eye on her because she will surprise attack other dogs if you take your eyes off her.
Gracie seems to do well with children, but she is timid and does not like children in her face or holding on tightly to her. You can tell she was with an older woman, as she seems to gravitate towards them. Her foster mom's mother came for a visit and Gracie wouldn't leave her side.
It is recommended that Gracie's forever family have time to commit to this beautiful girl, as she is high energy and needs to run! Being a couch potato is not in the cards for this lady. It is also suggested that Gracie be an only dog in her future forever home.
JULY UPDATE: Gracie's new favorite summertime activity is supervising while you weed your flower beds and garden. She will spend hours by her foster mom's side, just enjoying the companionship. She is a true lover!
A home looking to be a single pet family would love to have Gracie as a new member. Her foster family is going to miss this sweet girl tremendously when she finds her furever home.
Gracie is beautiful, loving and healthy. She is full of energy and deserves a loving, energetic home. If this sounds like a great fit for your family, please mention her name when you fill out an adoption application. You'll be glad you did.
AUGUST UPDATE: Gracie continues to improve around other dogs both inside and outside. She plays nicely as long as there are no toys involved and no attention is given to any furry family members.
Gracie is definitely high energy, bounding through the yard as well as the house when she wants to go outside. During her low-key times she prefers to curl up at your feet and will stay there for hours as long as you don't move.
Gracie will need some sponsors for her medical care, as she will need to be spayed and microchipped.
