BIO:

Lola was surrendered by her previous owners due to needing expensive knee surgery done to both of her knees. These orthopedic surgeries will cost a bundle and require months of a very slow recovery.

But Lola doesn't let this prognosis get her down. She is a very sweet girl with tons of personality. Unfortunately, due to her condition, she limps frequently so she is on a strict exercise restriction to keep her comfortable until her upcoming surgery. She can't wait to be healthy enough to play ball again!

MAY UPDATE: Lola has really started to show some serious signs of pain in her back legs. She is in desperate need of knee surgery to correct the torn ligaments. Even the smallest amount of free time outside results in her "toe-touching" with her back legs. Most of the time she holds the majority of her weight on her front legs. Even squatting to go potty is a struggle.

Lola has been started on an anti-inflammatory to help with pain and that helps a little. She still has a great spirit and tries to play as much as possible. Her favorite toy is a ball, she carries it everywhere with her!

Lola is very sweet. She gets along with kids, cats and other dogs. She is house trained and crate trained. She has a long road ahead of her filled with surgery and physical therapy, but she will make a great new family member for anyone when she is ready!

JULY UPDATE: At the beginning of June, Lola was still recovering from surgery on her right knee. By the middle of the month, she began to feel a whole lot better! She was beginning to play more and demanding to spend more time outside every day. This made her exercise restriction difficult for her. Her foster family had to find some creative ways for her to be entertained: short, frequent walks, new treats and food toys.

Just as Lola was starting to enjoy being able to have more activity, she had her second knee surgery on her left leg June 30 :-/ She's back to square one with recovery: e-collar back on, no walks, no stairs, no tennis ball. But it doesn't seem to bother her.

The great news is that Lola was a wonderful patient and the procedure went really well. She is still just as loving as ever and looking forward to a full recovery and being able to be her happy, active dog self soon.

AUGUST UPDATE: Lola had her final knee surgery at the end of June and the whole month of July was focused on recovery for her. She spent 2 weeks on strict exercise restriction with an e-collar on. Once her staples were removed, she was able to have the e-collar off.

The good news is, recovery for Lola's second surgery was easier than her first. She received therapeutic laser and physical therapy all month. Towards the end of July, her foster family was able to start increasing her activity level. She can now go for short walks and event went to a couple of IBR events.

Lola is regaining her stamina and hopes to be able to play ball soon. A tennis ball is her ultimate favorite toy. It's been hard to keep her from playing. As soon as the vet proclaims her recovery from surgery complete, this sweet girl will be looking for her forever home with someone who likes to play!

SEPTEMBER UPDATE: Lola's ACL surgeries have been completed successfully and her activity level has been increased to occasional running. She has done very well with her physical therapy. Her favorite activity is still chasing a ball. Obsessed doesn't even begin to describe it!

Lola's foster family has found that she can be food aggressive around other dogs. Feeding her separately from the other dogs in the home has solved that problem. She has also met the resident cat and did fine with her, but the cat is older and very tolerant of dogs.

Lola is ready to find a family that is active. She's a social girl and loves to go for car rides, loves to meet new people, and loves to go for walks. With all this activity, she also enjoys a good snuggle and nap time.
