BIO:
Meatball is a one year old neutered male, up to date on all vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative and is healthy.

He is still adjusting to his new foster home, but so far Meatball gets along with the other dogs.

FEBRUARY UPDATE: Meatball has been settling into his foster home for almost 2 weeks now and we have a few updates. First, he has decided that he would like to chase cats. For his best interest and the stress of a future cat, he needs to be in a home without cats.

Meatball is a very young bulldog and seems to have had no boundaries in life before rescue. He is the definition of a "bulldog" in that he can be extremely stubborn when being corrected for doing something undesirable. It is a battle of the wills with him. He has tried to resist correction or something he doesn't like by acting out physically in those situations. He is not an aggressive dog, but a person who is not familiar with the breed and their stubborn attitude could mistake this as "being aggressive." He does respond positively to a spray bottle as correction.

Meatball will need a forever home with strong human figure(s) who can be firm and consistent with teaching and enforcing boundaries with him. Training will be incredibly important. Developing a strong bond with him from the beginning will be key. He will need to look to that person(s) as his leader. Because of his lack of boundary training and his chosen way to show resistance, it will be best for Meatball and his forever family that he not be adopted into a home with young children or those not accustomed to bulldogs.

Meatball is not 100% house trained. He is crated during the day or when no one is home and has urinated/defecated in his crate on more than one occasion. However, he can be trusted to free roam at night, as he just sleeps.

Meatball is all puppy! He is energetic and will require daily exercise and play. He doesn't know how big and strong he is, so he plays rough and greets people by jumping up on them. Again, because of this, he will not be placed in a forever home with children under age 8. Some puppy habits he has are nibbling on hands, fingers, arms and his toy box. This behavior needs to be redirected. His forever family will need to be firm and consistent in redirecting his energy in a positive way. He loves to chew on bones and tuff toys and does so in a positive way with no guarding.

Meatball is a good eater and will need to maintain his current weight to remain healthy. He does not show any kind of food aggression with humans or other dogs. He is currently taking Benadryl twice a day for typical bullie allergies. He also has a nose rope that needs to be cleaned daily. He resisted nail cutting slightly, but allowed it to be done without getting aggressive.

Last but not least, Meatball is a big snuggler/cuddler! He is very affectionate and loves to be touched and have attention.
