Bio:

Meet and Welcome Nikolas! He is: 2yrs old, white (with brown ears), HeartWorm (HW) positive. He comes from a high kill shelter that was on the PTS (put to sleep) list. Fellow Rescue -Illinois English Bulldog Rescue (IEBR), helped us with getting this bullie boy into IBR. He will be vetted soon and we will know more about any other health concerns he may have. Until then, he's settling in his foster home with 4 girl bullies and 2 cats. He seems to be a happy boy, higher energy level and even knows how to "sit" and "shake". He will need lots of sponsors, since HW+ treatment regimens are very costly!

NOVEMBER UPDATE: Nikolas has completed his 3 month heartworm treatment!! He is now on monthly preventative. He also does not have any allergies and does not require any medications.

Nikolas's energy level continues to be on the high side. He can be lazy though, too. He is good with other dogs, cats, kids and adults (male and female). If there is a "scuffle" between two other dogs in his foster home, Nik runs to try and break it up. He will literally get himself in-between the two and sometimes ends up getting involved. He has never initiated a fight, though. He will listen to his foster mom when she verbally calls him out of those situations. Sometimes he will chase the cats, but never pursues them very far.

Nikolas is house-trained and has never had an accident in the house. He loves, loves, loves to be outside! However, he is a "darter." He will escape out an open door if you aren't careful. Once outside, he will run. His foster mom has been able to get him to come back, but it hasn't been without some persistent calling and looking for him. Nikolas has the instinct to chase and explore. Because of this, he will require a home with a tall privacy fence.

Nikolas is a very happy boy. He is very snuggly and cuddly. He prefers to sleep in his foster mom's bed, with 2 of his foster bullie sisters and a cat. He is crate trained and will willingly go relax in it. His foster mom keeps him in his kennel during the day, since he is too high energy to be able to "trust" him without her home. He is a little taller than your typical English Bulldog and probably has some Olde English in him. Because of his height and curiosity, he will jump up on the edge of counters to try and steal food.
