Day one of Charlie's stay at Casa Moody: came in very tired from his "travels" into rescue. We give the kids a clean slate and note behavior as we go. No expectations. Charlie did well with two male bullies. Imressive, but he's young and it's day one. He was cool with Mr. Cool aka Hooch. He was less predictable with another stable youngster close to his age. But once commands and rewards were presented, he complied. We will put him on a diet of exercise and boundries to restart his training. He has little in the way of respect. He also seems quite a bit distracted. Puppy in an adult package. His energy is what I would describe as mid to high at the moment but that may change through diet, exercise, and training. I have not tested him with children yet, but will do so when deemed appropriate. Undeniably beautiful, but trustworthy? Stay tuned....
Mention Charlie by name when you fill out an adoption application .August Update: Charlie has added a couple of pounds to his weight, he is slowly filling out and his ribs are not quite as noticeable. He has settled in with our 2 bulldogs and loves to play with them. I have seen no incident of aggression towards either bulldog. He has found a favorite squeaky toy. He enjoys are daily walks. He was not thrilled with his first bath & put up a fight getting into the tub, for his first ear cleaning and nail trim and sat through patiently. He enjoys riding in the car, he just sits in the seat and looks out the window
NOVEMBER UPDATE: Charlie is slowly gaining weight and filling out his frame. He is still working on some behavior issues and is not quite ready to be adopted yet. Doorbells tend to drive him crazy for some reason, even if only on TV. He's also still working on his manners.
Charlie heels pretty well when walking and is learning not to pull. His foster mom is not comfortable yet allowing him to be off the leash when he is outside the fence, though. He knows the commands "sit," "stay," "come" and "heel." He likes to bark when outside but is slowly learning "quiet."
Charlie gets along well with his two bulldog foster siblings. He likes to carry toys around with him and will make 3-4 trips to fetch them all to whatever room he is hanging out in with his people. He is a good eater and sleeper and is completely housebroken. He also likes to get hugs and give kisses.
When Charlie is ready for adoption, he will need a family who will continue to work with him consistently on his training and be patient with him when he is learning.
