Meet Mahlah- On Medical Hold Mahlah is a shleter pull
Gender: Altered Female
Age: 6 years old
Weight: 47lbs
Good with dogs: yes
Good with cats: unknown
Good with kids: yes
Medical Needs: Mahlah has severe dry eye and will require daily eye drops for the rest of her life. She may also require special food to prevent bladder stones.
Mahlah was a shelter pull. She was surrendered by her owner in December. When she came into the shelter she would not use her rear leg. It was determined that day that she needed her acl repaired and she was immediately put into surgery to help her pain. Her ACL was repaired and her lateral meiscus removed. It was also found that she has a calcified bladder stone. This was removed in a second surgery. Upon recovery, her bladder tore and leaked urine into her abdomin which required a third surgery for repair. She has been through 3 surgeries in just over a month. We now have her and are letting her rest and recooperate. We are very grateful to the shleter for taking on the costs of all 3 surgeries. We now have to determine if she is heartworm positive and watch her bladder and urine with cultures to see if everything clears up. Even though we did not take on the initial expenses... her recovery expenses will be quite a bit. If you wish to donate to her care, please sponser her here.
Mahlah is adjusting to her foster family, she loves to play and snuggle. She has a even keeled temperment and is very happy. She is good with her foster dog siblings and loves kids. She does have food aggression so separation from others while eating is important as well as watching her when food is out. She will be returning to the vet for a recheck very soon.
