Leyla's Story...

Hello Chums -Leyla here! Nice to meet you, CEBR followers. I am a three-year-old, 47lb dame with a gentle demeanor and lots of love to give. I am also Spike’s sister. We both have the same genetic disorder; our bodies create rare cystine stones. Our previous owners needed to surrender us because they did not have the time for us, and could no longer care for our medical needs. They felt bad about the situation, but knew CEBR would find us perfect homes! My foster home is working to decrease the size of my large kidney stone. I am on a special food and take two pills a day to help the process. It’s going well — the stone has already decreased 1CM since I landed in CEBR’s care. Once my long-term care is determined, I will be ready for adoption. I will arrive at your home spayed and up to date on vaccinations. I am heart worm negative and micro chipped, too.
This CEBR foster life is good. My foster parents have a big comfy bed for me in their house; they serve me my prescription food twice daily, and I get to play with some neat toys. I really like antlers and stuffed toys. I spend most of my time lounging on the dog bed by the fire place. My foster brother and I play a bit and then we cuddle. I like dogs a lot. I am a bit curious and active when I meet a new dog, but I soon settle down.
Here are some good things to know about me: I am potty trained, I am completely fine being left in a room when you need to leave, I don't climb on the furniture unless I am invited, and I am walking well on my leash. Also, I enjoy other dogs! Basically, I am perfect. Okay, nobody’s perfect. I would benefit from a training class with other dogs. I love dogs so much — all I want to do is play when I first meet them. I mean no harm, but I could use help learning my boundaries.
My perfect forever would be a home with a flexible schedule, or a home with a dog walker. I love hanging with the family, chewing on toys and getting belly rubs. I enjoy having visitors — I show them my toys, teach them how to relax and basically insist they rub my belly. It works every time! My foster dad called me Batgirl, because of my funny ears. Nobody can resist my sweet face and unique ears. NOBODY.
Thank you for listening to my story. Want to learn more about becoming my constant companion? Go ahead and apply to adopt me at Online Home of Chicago English Bulldog Rescue.
