I am already neutered, purebred, a special needs pet, and up to date with shots.
Charlie's Story...
Charlie came to us a victim of being hit by a car. His owner loved him dearly but couldn't afford the advanced medical care (x-rays, MRI, Neuro specialist) and surgery that Charlie was now going to require and rather than put him down, contacted CEBR.
Charlie's initial x-rays did not show any obvious breaks, but Charlie's back legs aren't fully functioning. The good news is he has deep pain and withdraws his legs when touched and is tilting his head to the right, however, he isn't turning his right paw over when tucked under and he also has quite a bit of pain in his neck. We think he may have also suffered a concussion during the accident. Our main focus though is the spinal injury that he suffered and ensuring he can regain mobility and use of his back legs.Needing help just to stand His current diagnosis has shown that:
The impact of being hit by a car moved a disc up thus putting pressure on his spinal column.
A spinal disc has also moved and shattered on impact.
He has an embolism in the spine (i.e. cartilage is obstructing the blood flow) and will heal over time with the help of medication and therapy.
Through diligent therapy, top notch medical, orthopedic and neurological care, CEBR strives to give Charlie and other bullies like him the best shot at a long and healthy life.
These cases typically are the most expense for CEBR and our initial estimate for his care is at least $8,000 during his first 30 days in our care.
