9/2/13: The story behind The Cherokee Girls…
Monday morning we received a FB message from Casey. She had recently taken in these girls from a family friend and needed our help finding them new homes. None of them had been vetted, all of them had fleas and worms, and only one was spayed. We took two in that afternoon and got them to the vet and the other two over this past weekend. Thank you for trusting us with these girls Casey!

Please welcome Sweetie! We took Sweetie right to GVS on Monday because we feared that she had an obstruction. Sweetie had been vomiting and had diarrhea for a few days and spit up a piece of a balloon. She spent the night at GVS but they did not find any obstructions. Luckily it was just an upset stomach, most likely from diet change.

She was transferred to Dr Rush’s on Tuesday. She had surgery on Friday, spay, palate shortened and nostrils widened. She will need to take it easy for two week then have her stitches removed. She is now up to date on all vaccinations.

She has not been on flea or HW preventative. She tested negative for HW now, but will need to be rechecked again in six months.

Sweetie is five years old. She lived in a garage her entire life in a large run. We believe that she may not have even been let out of the run for potty breaks.

We are told she likes other dogs, does not mind cats, and did well around a two year old child for a brief time that she was near him.

Sweetie is not housebroken.

Update 9/10/13: Sweetie went to her foster home. Ton Ton and Zero are teaching her about the good life. She is already starting to catch on to going potty outside.
