to good use.
Forty-six pieces of wood(Cypress, Red Oak, Curley Maple, Cumaru, Brazilian Cherry, Domestic Cherry, Ipe, Honduran Mahogany, Sapele, & Machiche. It took months to accumulate the strips...all leftover ripping strips from jobs weā€™ve done. We set about joining, ripping, gluing, planing, glass scraping, sanding, and sealing.

Almost done with our new Kitchen Table Top, this week as time permits, we will finish it off with Epoxy Resin. This will be first attempt using resin other than on a surfboard. I could use some luck!

Glued up...

Beautiful!!! Good job guys!

Thereā€™s a company we have here in Canada call Lee Valley. Many moons ago over 100yrs they bought in Europe if Iā€™m not mistaken it was n France. A company that had old barns full of different woods from all over the world. They combined like you but in a pattern. So basically if you cut it opposite way as thin as a piece of paper, you get a gorgeous pattern like the attached picture. So Lee Valley bought them out and brought everything back to Canada in Ontario. I recall 30 yrs ago I bought a piece to add to a little table we were doing, 3ā€™ x 1/2ā€ 125.00$ But man was it beautiful. Somewhat like youā€™re doing.

Itā€™s all cut offā€™s. Keep what you just cut as ends.. Go for it. Youā€™ll throw them in the garage anyway.

The table is just gorgeous! Tell me what glass scraping means please.

It's a method of using glass panes to smooth & level a wooden surface...done before sanding. When glass is cut it is scratched on one side with a glass gutter. Then it is broken away from and along that scratch. The edge opposite the scratched side is razor sharp and makes for a perfect planing blade...as seen here...

I love wood, everything about it. For the last ten years I have been dreaming

of putting a Florida Pecky Cypress ceiling in my huge lanai. Way too expensive, like between 6 and 8 thousand dollars:::sigh:::
