Thanks for sharing; I see that Canadian breed standards stipulate 23/18 kilos for males/females. Interesting - UK and Swedish standards both say 25/23 kilos. I got curious and checked a few other European countries and they all say 25 kilos for males and 23 kilos for females. I wonder why the Canadian kennel club has set smaller standard weight?

My understanding is, example my breeder, she tends to breed smaller for health reasons. She does admit once in a while sheā€™ll get a chunky one in the little like Jake. But thatā€™s genes from a parent/ancestors. Sheā€™s trying to bring them back to what they were. A tad longer nose, less ropes etc. Also a good friend of mine, one of her friend is the one in charge of the CKC. She lives in British Columbia. Iā€™m not naming her for privacy reasons. But yes CKC are also trying to keep the breed smaller for health reason. There are also other dog breeds, them breeders are also diverting towards healthier breeds.
