Some interesting info to add to your library.

Date: Sat, Mar 21, 2020 at 2:48 PM

A quote from a Dr. working in “corona corner” of the ICU at her hospital, and a doctor she works with just passed this along. If you keep comparing it to the flu - this is why you should stop. And if you want to argue politics, I’ll just delete the comment - this isn’t about red or blue, donkeys or elephants, left or right - it’s about human lives and not being naive.

“Sharing from a friend. Dr. Subho

    Understanding COVID-19.....simply complex disease

Feeling confused as to why Coronavirus is a bigger deal than Seasonal flu? Here it is in a nutshell. I hope this helps. Feel free to share this to others who don’t understand...

It has to do with RNA sequencing.... i.e. genetics.

Seasonal flu is an “all human virus”. The DNA/RNA chains that make up the virus are recognized by the human immune system. This means that your body has some immunity to it before it comes around each year... you get immunity two ways...through exposure to a virus, or by getting a flu shot.

Novel viruses, come from animals.... the WHO tracks novel viruses in animals, (sometimes for years watching for mutations). Usually these viruses only transfer from animal to animal (pigs in the case of H1N1) (birds in the case of the Spanish flu). But once, one of these animal viruses mutates, and starts to transfer from animals to humans... then it’s a problem, Why? Because we have no natural or acquired immunity.. the RNA sequencing of the genes inside the virus isn’t human, and the human immune system doesn’t recognize it so, we can’t fight it off.

Now.... sometimes, the mutation only allows transfer from animal to human, for years it’s only transmission is from an infected animal to a human before it finally mutates so that it can now transfer human to human... once that happens..we have a new contagion phase. And depending on the fashion of this new mutation, thats what decides how contagious, or how deadly it’s gonna be..

H1N1 was deadly....but it did not mutate in a way that was as deadly as the Spanish flu. It’s RNA was slower to mutate and it attacked its host differently, too.

    Fast forward.

Now, here comes this Coronavirus... it existed in animals only, for nobody knows how long...but one day, at an animal market, in Wuhan China, in December 2019, it mutated and made the jump from animal to people. At first, only animals could give it to a person... But here is the scary part.... in just TWO WEEKS it mutated again and gained the ability to jump from human to human. Scientists call this quick ability, “slippery”

This Coronavirus, not being in any form a “human” virus (whereas we would all have some natural or acquired immunity). Took off like a rocket. And this was because, Humans have no known immunity...doctors have no known medicines for it.

And it just so happens that this particular mutated animal virus, changed itself in such a way the way that it causes great damage to human lungs..

That’s why Coronavirus is different from seasonal flu, or H1N1 or any other type of influenza.... this one is slippery AF. And it’s a lung eater...And, it’s already mutated AGAIN, so that we now have two strains to deal with, strain s, and strain L....which makes it twice as hard to develop a vaccine.

We really have no tools in our shed, with this. History has shown that fast and immediate closings of public places has helped in the past pandemics. Philadelphia and Baltimore were reluctant to close events in 1918 and they were the hardest hit in the US during the Spanish Flu.

Factoid: Henry VIII stayed in his room and allowed no one near him, till the Black Plague passed...(honestly...I understand him so much better now). Just like us, he had no tools in his shed, except social isolation...

And let me end by saying....right now it’s hitting older folks harder... but this genome is so slippery...if it mutates again (and it will). Who is to say, what it will do next.

Be smart folks... acting like you’re unafraid is so not sexy right now.

#flattenthecurve . Stay home folks... and share this to those that just are not catching on. 🤓”

Well I’ve been in the house for a while. If I need to go out which is rare I sure keep my 10’ distance n doe everything in the mornings. Stores are empty here. I went out to get my 95yr old neighbour's cat food. Her daughter like 2ish hours from here so I go. That cat needs to lose a good 10lbs. I started to walk the dogs now that it’s much warmer. They’re out of shape from all winter. And me lol... Hopefully everyone takes this seriously and keep distance among each other n wash theirs hands. Thank god March break is over. Kids today they think they’re immune to the world.

How convenient while we are all stuck in covid19. I said it from day 1... Covid is a stock market issue. Like all flu’s, yes keep your distance n don’t go anywhere if you’re sick. That being said, yes we need to stay home till this virus blows away.

There's quite a bit of evidence out there that covid 19 originated from a virology lab in Wuhan, China, probably accidentally. eg. https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitic...ource-covid-19

I think the greatest evidence for this is the fact that the wet markets where this supposedly originated have reopened, to give China plausible deniability about any future outbreaks, and because it didn't originate from the wet market to begin with. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-...e-one-21799425

I’m VENTING!!! You know, please DONT get me wrong, yes it’s a faster virus, yes we need to keep our distance but way too much freaking the public here with this media. Any flu, you will not know if you have it till a few days later n yes you need to stay home like any time you’re sick. Our Canadian Health Minister Patty Hajdu and Dr. Theresa Tam, I swear I would fire their sorry ****s. For almost 2 months the people telling them over n over n over close ALL borders. No, not necessary as it’s not a pandemic. Plus these 2 idiots listening to the World Health Organization that...nope no problem with him either... And this week all 3 are swallowing there BS advice. Our other idiot Trudeau the pretty boy still hiding has absolutely no clue what to do and simply reading a script what to say. Sends all our masks n equipment to China and yet now we need it, China won’t send any. Medicom is a Canadian company that does masks n other equipment for hospitals and they have 3 plants in China! China won’t send our equipment??? Pfffft... Then you have Trump telling 3M not to send anything masks to Canada. Wow, this guy fall on his head or what. We have nurses, doctors in US helping out with the virus. Plus Quebec which owns hydro-Quebec who supplies NY State of their electricity power, US airlines landing in Gander, NL among other cities on 9/11, helping with all the fires etc....Like not time to be greedy but let’s all help one another so we can get out of this mess together. Not time to be greedy with a country that’s alway thereto help out. You sure don’t want countries to revolt with one another. Not good....We’re all in the same boat here.... OK OK I’m done venting I’ll go away....lol

100% agree with you ! This article is the best article I've read so far describing how Trudeau and the health experts have mismanaged this in Canada, presumedly because Trudeau wanted to make China happyso he can get on the UN Security Council:

I was just reading that they are investigating using a janus kinase inhibitor called Baricitinib (OLUMIANT®) for preventing hospitalized patients with Covid 19 from progressing to acute respiratory distress syndrome since that is what really ends up killing the patient. It's normally used for rheumatoid arthritis. That made me wonder that if a dog contracts COVID 19 from its owner whether it would benefit from Apoquel, since that's also a janus kinase inhibitor. I guess we'll never know.

You’re the med expert... From my understanding seems dogs can carry covid but no proof of transmitting it. Last week I’ve read a couple place that cats n ferret can transmit the covid.
