How would i attach the magnets? Stairlift cover is a cheap plastic

I was thinking you might be able to use magnets-and to attach the magnets, there is VELCRO that has a sticky back on it, so you could stick it on the plastic, and stick it on the gate also. Velcro sort of has two parts-you know a male side and a female side. They do make heavy duty velcro also-that sticks on-you might even be able to just use the velcro, without attaching the magnets to the velcro ..........Maybe just use velcro to close the gate, and to use it for the small area gate on the other side of the seat.
