Hmmm. I love horror flicks even though some of them scare the beejezus outta me! Here are some of my faves:

The Exorcist
The Rite
The Thing
The Amityville Horror
The Omen
The Changeling
Pet Sematary
Salem's Lot
Alien

My favorite all though it doesn't scare me anymore Nightmare on Elm street ( the very first Freddy movie)

The one I can't watch Saw 1! Every other scary movie since that one I watch with no problem and get mad that they aren't many quality horror films anymore.

I hate slasher movies or gore for the sake of gore, Alien, Jaws, Predator, gore
was part of the monster's arsenal of terror and added to the horror in a true
way and not for exploitation. I loved to be scared more on a MENTAL level.

As you can tell w/my suggestions, I love Horror, Suspense w/terror and SciFi.

More on my fav list...Kalifornia w/Brad Pitt & Juliette Lewis...Seven, again w/Brad
Pitt & Morgan Freeman...Fallen w/Denzel Washington & John Goodman...Devil's
Advocate w/Al Pacino & Keenu Reeves...Predator w/Arnold Swartzneggar...Cape
Fear w/Robert De Niro & Nick Nolte...The Thing w/Kurt Russell...Rosemary's Baby
w/Mia Farrow (another classic).

Great suggestions by all...except for the slasher/gore ones, I've seen all of them!

I love Seven. And the Exorcist is one of my all time favorites. I was rather disappointed by IT since I had read the book first, then watched the movie. I have been watching scary movies since I can remember. When I was 10, 11, and 12 I used to watch pet cemetery, the shining, jaws, and tales from the crypt. OMG I loved tales from the crypt.

LariP for psychological thrillers you can't beat a Hitchcock movie! When my Mom was 9 months pregnant with me she went to see The Exorcist at the theater that summer of '74. People told her, you're gonna give birth in the theater! I guess I didn't want to come out to meet the world cause I was 3 weeks late. She didn't give birth until September. The movie must've scared me. LOL
