I just wanted to share recent stories I've heard in my area to warn everyone about their bulldogs (and any dogs) near pools or any body of water.
A co-worker's friend had an English Bulldog. They also had one of those big, blow up pools with a ladder. The lady let the dog outside briefly to go potty, and came back in about 5 minutes to let the dog back in and didn't see him anywhere. She began looking around the yard and walked by the pool, and found the dog dead in the bottom of the pool. She guesses he went up to get a drink and just fell in.
Her boyfriend's little girl's dachshund also drowned a few days ago. Someone wasn't watching it outside and it fell into the inground pool.
These things are SO preventable. It's so sad that this happened. Be sure to watch your dogs around big bodies of water..whether it's pools, rivers, ocean..anything. Delilah always wears a life jacket when we go to the beach, and she's never left unsupervised around a lot of water. These things are just tragic and can be prevented.
