hihi i'm new to the forum and just started cozing around.
I have a 4 months old English Bulldog named Dukey, and this is also my first time getting an English bulldog nevermind first dog in my life ever!

I wanted to ask the people with more of a bulldog experience and knowledge. My little bulldog gets very excited to go outside as I started to take him out on his walks and my friends house. He gets very excited when come in contact with other people or dogs that he doesn't calm himself down.

I know our dogs are prone to overheating and need to cool down when gets pretty hot, but on his walks, or visit to my friends house where i would have couple of my friends inside, He would go NUTS!

like he can't control himself wobbling, shaking, running around, circling around.. sometimes he would even squirt pees all over hes too excited...

and i can't get him to calm down ever. he would run around wild, his eyes would get red, he would be panting, he would get very hot, but i can't never get him to settle down especially around people. it's like he doesn't even here or notice me in the crowd.

some people say it's because his a puppy he's little too excited, but I donno if that's normal for him in his age or something is wrong with him??

he's not aggressive towards other people or dogs
and his social skills are there i would say but
I really don't know what to do, he gets uncontrollable when he meets other people.

Hello sharkpah and dukey!! Welcome to the site!! :welcome:

He still is a puppy so there's a good chance that as long as you are consistent with your training that he will grow out of this hyper stage!!!

However, if you would feel happier then I would look into some puppy training classes. I know a lot of members have used them on here, they go to their local petco or petsmart. Maybe in a group setting with lots of other puppies and their owners he will become more socialised and the trainer can tell you how to react when he goes into hyper-mode!!

Welcome! We love pics so please feel free to share them with us. Cutty wasnt a puppy when we got him so we did not experience this but I agree with maybe a training class to help learn what to do about this behavior. Also the more your baby is around this environment I would think eventually he will calm down.

Hi and welcome, so glad you found us!

My Stig is my first bully and dog too, and I feel that training classes did wonders, especially for us first-timers. The owners learn a lot about dog behaviours and what approaches are best. You can also ask the trainer to give you inputs on what to do about your pup.

Hope that helps. I highly recommend them, even if you only take the puppy level.

Thanks for the replies and warm welcomes!!

I am looking for some training classes and obedience training at the moment also
just because I AM new to owning and raising a dog too =]

don't want to raise my puppy in a wrong way

also glad to hear that it's not a major problem and i dont think it is
he is fairly calm and submissive around the house, so I guess I just need to get used to the environment outside of the house.

THANKS again guys!! I'm sure I'll be learning much from you guys and in this forum too!

me and Dukey are from So Cal by the way
and i'll post up some pictures!

hi sharkpah, and welcome. I have a puppy too...he's 14wks old and i'm also planning on enrolling him in an obedience class. Mine loves to nip, especially, ME (!), and i'm hoping i can learn some useful techniques to help me with this. I'm fairly new here myself but already I've learned so much from this group of bully owners on the forum.

:welcome:Mocha is a year and 9 months old and she still gets so excited whenever She sees people:ashamed:! Whenever we go for walks or to a store, there goes Mocha demanding attention! The problem is every time we go out people stop us to pet Her and love her, so there is little we can do about it.

The nipping is EXTREMELY common in puppies and it seems particularly common in bulldog puppies. Just be consistent with stopping him. I would make a godawful sound, push him away, and ignore him. It didn't take too long for him to stop.

As far as being over-excited, I would bet your pup just needs more socialization and a training class.

Good luck, and post pictures of your baby!

Welcome!!! As for the excited pee my dog had that at first too, but they do grow out of it. They're just so excited too see people they cant help it. As for hyper, my dog is 13 months old and still pretty hyper to the point he is borderline overheating when he runs around the yard and house like a mad man. He's just finally starting to realize that oooo maybe I should stop before anything happens. Training classes did help with boucing off the walls...now it's just limited to outside and the livingroom :p
