If you look at purebred English bulldogs, the breed standard according to the American Kennel Club is lbs 50 for males and lbs 40 for females (https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/bulldog/). This is slightly less than standards issued by the British and the Swedish kennel clubs, where the standards are 25 kilos (lbs 55) for males and 23 kilos (lbs 50) for females. Our Castor is quite small (lbs 44) although his parents both weighed in at standard sizes. Many bulldogs weigh much more, and there is great variation among purebred dogs.
