Hi everyone! Nacho has been itching really bad lately and today we noticed this really terrible RED swollen spot on his stomach. It's red, it's swollen and it feels hard/ rough to the touch. Anyone know what I can do to help him?? He has an appointment with the vet but till the 8th!!:/

He's 8 months, weighs about 40 lbs. Eats Merricks.

Itching started this last week with no changes in his diet.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Looks like it might be contact allergy reaction

Clean with cool cloth and give some Benedryl ... 1mg per pound up to 3x a day

I would probably also rub with a little coconut oil.

Hello, I tried doing this, he's been itching much less and now it's looking like this:

Have you changed any floor cleaners, etc? Deodorant on the carpets, rugs, anything like that?

Chumly's skin turned black on his belly too from his allergies. We had wool carpets and later found out he was allergic to wool. Monty's skin is now black where his fur has not grown back after surgery. I really don't know why it changes like that.

Is it scabs or did it change colors?

It's a Scab

Now I'm wondering if it was a hotspot? Strange place for one but would explain the scabbing.

Show photos to vet and let us know what they say

Agree that it looks like a flare up of contact dermatitis. Your boy has allergies!...as do a lot of dogs, bulldogs. Pollen on grass or the grass itself may have caused it. Wipe his belly down with baby wipes when he comes in from walking, pottying. Keep the wipes right next to the door.

Pollen is really bad at the moment. I too wipe Monty down, with special attention to the feet, after every trip outside as everything is coated in yellow. it is amazing how yellow the wipe is after just a quick trip to take care of business!
