ok,,, my take 'now' is............. he is agoraphobic. really.. Hank used to be afraid to leave his 'home' at all as the world out ther was scary. He just didn't want to go. Play at home and run the yard, but go out front and walk,,, nope. Even if I took him to a park, he really didn't want to then leave the car. No matter where he was inside, he didn't want to leave that area. soooooooo I used the Chihuahua to bribe hank to get him to walk... it was hard though cause one or the other was doing something that needed my attention ;/ He's gorgeous btw!! and doensnt look near the 'heavy' he did laying down ;) They ae so funny each and every one seems to have an 'issue' or TWO lol

Whopper is 3 and a half. He actually doesn't like to be outside at all. Playtime is inside. As soon as he is done relieving himself he sprints back to the door and won't budge until let back in. I play with him inside everyday until he is worn out. Part of our playtime is me running back and forth the length of the basement and he chases after me.

Well that's still making him move. You both getting exercise....:D dont give up. Keep pushing him.

He actually doesn't look too over weight... can you get a picture of him from above so we can see his waistline?

2 1/2 cups is a lot... i agree to cut back to one cup at each meal with the green beans as a filler.

Also.. post a picture of his paw-- might be hyper keratosis, which is over growth of skin-- looks almost like fur growing

Yep, hyper keratosis.. groomers can trim it for you -- there is no cure that I know of other than keeping it groomed. My Banks had a little of it on one back paw--- i put mushers secret on it so it didn't harden up

Very easy to just run a grooming clipper along bottom of foot pad eg. Wahl , then put on the mushers secret or aquaphor or Bag Balm etc

Are you all seeing the extra pad though? Notice the 4 small toe pads, the one main large pad but then just to the right of that is another mass of flesh almost like another pad. Close-up pic of what I'm referring to.

Yes, it looks like a big swollen lump. I don't know what that could be. I would want a vet to look at it. I do see the hyperkeratosis too, the kind of yellow hairy bit. Monty has it a little bit. Sorry I can't help.
I also think he needs to slim down a bit. He's a lovely boy!

Vet said to just keep an eye on it and if it ever ends up seeming like it is bothering him that it would have to be removed. But he doesn't limp or show any signs of it being painful or a hindrance from what I can tell.

Hyperkeratosis is the yellow dry fur. Just clip it off as much as you can.

I think I would ask about a biopsy on that lump.
