Default English bulldog puppy breathing 60-70 times a minute! Help please

Hi! Me and my girlfriend recently bought an english bulldog puppy. He was 8 weeks when we first brought it back home. He is now 13 weeks and he looks perfect and is always happy.
Yesterday we realized that he was breathing really fast and took him to the vet for a check up. They concluded that he had murmur in his heart grade 2.
They said that this might go away by ITS own but they appointed us for a new check up in 4 weeks
    And that we shouldn't worry..
    but we are worrying endless
At night time when ITS sleeping time we counted his breathing to up to 65 a minute. Short breaths
This is not normal as we read that normal is 15-30 breaths a minute..
but he seems fine and happy when he wakes up and doesn't show any sign of being sick
Please help us. I can't wait 4 weeks for the vet to answer us
I feel like this is much more serious than a grade 2 murmur..

NOTE/ just counted his breathing in the daytime when sleeping and that is around 40 a minute

Your baby is precious. Get him to a cardiologist and quickly of his breathing is not normal. My baby came to our home with a heart murmur as well and supposedly a grade 2. We had him checked out by a few vets and since it was very loud and strong they believed it was a worse grade murmur. We went to a cardiologist and they confirmed that it was a 4-5. They suggested we bring him in every 6 months and to monitor him and don't let him get so worked up. Well, he loves to play and we definitely monitor him. He will be 2 on Sunday and he is the love of my life!!! His breathing has always been normal so I dont know if your is experiencing something different. Please take him to a cardiologist.

Will do! I'm very worried that this might be a grade 4+
As i said, he is very playful and seems very happy... it's just his breathing that is worrying me.

I agree, he needs to see a specialist... we have members who have dealt w/heart murmurs and I'm going to tag them for you. Your baby is absolutely adorable by the way!!!

He is carrying too much weight. A little chubbiness on a healthy puppy is OK, but not good for a puppy with a heart condition. Adjust his food intake and slim him down...as his heart is having to work harder than it should. As others have said, he should be seeing a specialist. Our Lola had a grade 4 murmur and my wife was told that she'd not make it past 1 year. We decided not to baby her and to just let her be a bulldog. We did, however, make sure that she never overheated. She lived to 9 years. Please report back what the cardiologist says.

Always great advise here. We are putting your baby ( name?) on the bully prayer list. He is a very handsome boy.

Welcome to EBN but sorry you are worried about Achilles

Great advice from the knowledgeable members, take him to
heart specialist, slim him down (reduce his food, add green
beans to fill him up), keep him from playing too hard & over
heating and please keep us informed on what the specialist
says about his heart. I'm praying that Achilles grows out of
this murmur (sometimes they do) or can lead a long, healthy
life with it. He's is so adorable!

    My 1st bully, Brutus
    RIP beloved boy.

What a gorgeous baby you have! The most important thing you can do for him at home is to prevent over exercising and too much excitement, and don't overfeed him, so he doesn't carry too much weight. Don't worry yourself to death, many murmurs resolve on their own, in process of maturing certain holes in heart close. When they breath fast during sleep, it can be R.E.M. Phase of sleep, when they dream and chase cats, kinda excited. Just watch him closely, puppies are like babies, if they are happy, always hungry and playful, wee and poop on your carpets often, they are ok. You will see immediately if he is not ok from his behaviour.

Thank you guys so much for the help! We will be taking him to a heart specialist asap and update you all on his condition
As i said earlier he seems fine and very happy.. ONLY thing that is worrying me is his breathing. Lately i've been playing with him less in the night time. Hes breathing is much better now but still breathing fast.
He is currently 13 weeks old and weighs about 10.5 kgs now..
I dont feel like he is overweight.. the vet said the weight is perfect and that you should never put a puppy on a diet
Just feed them until they are full and they automaticly back away. Is that true?

I'll put some more pictures of him

First of all I gotta say that is one cute pup!!!! OMG

Puppies do breathe faster when they are in REM sleep, but since he has a murmur it would not hurt to at least talk with a specialist and have his grade taken again. At 8 weeks it is not uncommon for a pup to still have a murmur as a grade 1-2, sometimes the valve hasn't closed yet in growth. At 13 weeks it's possible it won't. But a grade 2 murmur should be okay-- may downgrade to a grade 1 with growth. I'm a bit surprised the breeder did not mention it to you? Murmurs do not develop they are born with them.

We got his vet records from the bereder. And there was no murmur found at the 8 week check up
So when we bought him he was in perfect condition. The murmur developed around week 10.
The vet and the breeder said that murmurs rarely is something They are born with.
But it is common that they might develop it as They grow. I confirmed that statement on many websites that stated the same...
