Hanks "play" behavior with his daddy seems to have changed over the last week . He's cute funny roughhouse growl ( though is still gentle with mouth) sounds not so sweet. We've all talked about not roughhousing , and I really think it's time to stop playing with humans in that way ( I didn't care for in the first place). Dad agrees, but my question is… Is this typical 13 month old behavior for an unneutered male even if they didn't do roughhouse play? As in it's extra important to know his manners from here on out as he is "of age" .

Hankster Hank has been roughhousing since his puppyhood, with his dad. Now he is approaching "manhood" (Hank-not dad) and starting to "see" things in a different way! He is also at the age of "testing" the rules-he may try to change the rules, and be in charge. I have not had a male pup,(only a tiny poodle) but I would take it easy with the rough play! Throw balls or something else.

Thank you for this... Manydogs ;) It was just enough of a *different* tone in his voice that I feel it really is time! He never played rough with anyone but dad, but turned and jumped at me and my reaction was not like dads and he was sooooo sorry. I don't think we should put him in that position of having to decipher 'who and when' anymore! You clarified :)

Yep ^^^^ what Lynn said. 15-18 months is that teenage rebellion phase so it may even be good to reinforce rules and alpha in the house

Only one alpha in a household. Your decision to make it happen.
