there were but 3 this AM. I'm sold...Nexgard monthly Flea and Tic works to combat Demodex. He's looking much better after 30 days...His fur is just starting to come back. If you have a Demodex dog (one with a weak immune system) Nexgard may be the answer. Now for us to figure out how often to dose(every 1, 2, 3, 4 months???)...if he even needs any pulsing.

So glad he's doing well! He's a terrific bully. Wouldn't you just continue to give the Nexgard monthly since he needs it for flea and tick protection? From what I read it HAS to be continued for two months after 2 negative scrapes, but you might as well just continue it. You should try to build up his immune system eg.probiotics, titres rather than vaccinations, and echinacea tincture drops for a couple of weeks.

That is fantastic news! The normal mites meds are so tough... good to hear there is an alternative and it works!!

Hugs to the boy

Hmm... I may have to think about this, Wally is a demodex dog but knock on wood we haven't had any problems.

He got another dose yesterday and he'll get one more in 30 days. We will come up with a plan and make recommendations to his new owners after speaking in more detail with our Vet.
When Biggie came in it was very apparent that he had been neglected and was eating some food I had never heard of. Primary ingredient was corn, IIRC.
We don't use any flea and tic treatments on our guys because we don't have them. But if we started having issues I would not hesitate to use the Nexgard.

TY, I'm very pleased with the results. I must admit that I was a bit skeptical...but no more. I still believe that Ivermectin would be a better choice for some dogs(the really bad cases) but thankfully we don't see those horrible cases very often.

You can also use Bravecto which lasts 8-12 weeks instead of Nexgard. It's in the same class, so probably same efficacy. I think in a bad case I'd ask my vet if I could add the Advantage Multi every 2 weeks on top of the Nexgard, since you have to use really high doses of Ivermectin.
