"Hi everyone, :hiya:

I wanted to share our new rescue senior Max with you all. Max is approx. 7.5 years old (or older) and is our second senior rescue, Sally was our first and she passed last March (her story is in the rescue stories section). Max was a stray in one of our neighboring counties and was rescued off the streets by PawsCO. It was obvious he had been dumped. He's been in their care since December due to some medical issues (bad arthritis in his front legs and a bad ear infection). He had an ear procedure done and got neutered. He saw 3 different vets for his elbow and had a scan done on his right front leg. He has some bone chips in it and walks with a very big limp. All vets agreed that Max's best medical course would be anti-inflammatory meds. That doesn't stop Max from moving around, this quite agile and very fast up and down our stairs. He has some allergies but they seem to be the typical seasonal paw licking kind. Those that know me know I have a huge love for seniors and I need them in my life. :havemyheart: It's been a great 36 hours or so and Max has fit right on in with the Hooligans with no issues. He's a really smart boy and knows how to sit, give hi-five, roll-over and is already barking to say, "HEY, it's time to eat!!!" He's just a sweetheart. His pee pee could use a nip tuck though cause he pees all over his feet though.

He's a tiny boy right now (chest at 26") and is skinny but he'll gain a bit of weight back soon enough.

Oh my goodness, what a handsome boy! Love that toothy grin!! :luv: It's so wonderful that you rescue seniors!! We're hoping to purchase our first home in about a year & would love to do the same thing once we've gotten settled! Our first dog was a senior Dalmatian that belonged to my husband's mom at the time of her passing. He was about 13 when we brought him home, we hated the idea of him being put into a shelter at such an old age & none of my husband's other siblings would take him. We were self-proclaimed "cat people" at the time LOL  Seniors are really something special though :luv:. After we lost him (2 years later, on the anniversary of my mother-in-law's passing!) we didn't have another dog for about 4 years until we got Effie (...and she was our first puppy ).

So heartfelt that he passed on the same day as your MIL did. Seniors are truly special and so soulful.

I've never heard of that (which doesn't mean anything). I just ordered Dasuquin and will add that to my cart as well. He goes to my vet on Monday.
