Soooo the vet appt went good and bad (in my opinion, but really it was good). Dr. Kinnear was GREAT! And we saw at least 8 bullies in the time we were there (about 45 minutes) - I could stay there all day!!! So Chunk definitely needs the Entropion surgery (that's the "bad" part - I hate the idea of surgery), I'm finally giving in after talking to Dr. Kinnear. (Our regular vet isn't really a "bulldog specialist" like Dr. Kinnear, that is why I wanted to see him for a second opinion before opting for surgery.) He said the bumps under his chin are almost definitely due to a food allergy and that the Fromm Whitefish and Potato is a GREAT choice. He explained a few things to me about the skin, entropion and his jaw (I forget what he said it's called but it's why his tongue hangs to the side). Says other than the entropion and skin, he's in great health! So happy to hear that - and feel wonderful that he has pretty much the same opinion as our regular vet. Best part about this vet visit - it was so inexpensive!!! Of all the vet bills we have had - his office was the least expensive which was shocking since he is so highly recommended.

So we will be scheduling the entropion surgery and neutering asap. (On another positive and negative note, my husband got laid off today so he'll be able to tend to Chunk after his surgery. Of course not happy that he is unemployed again but happy he can take care of Sir Chunk-a-lot.) Had hoped to maybe stud Chunk before he was neutered so I could have a baby Chunk but that's not looking possible. Oh well, his health is most important!!

Thanks everyone who's been checking in on me and my boy. I think this overly cautious Mama has finally had her mind put at ease!:luv::whew:

Thanks! It's nice to hear good experiences ... our groomer (and friend) told us last visit about another of her bullies she grooms who had it and it didn't work!!! Talking w/the vet yesterday, we both agreed it must not have been a good surgeon.

So glad to hear that your mind is now at ease after getting the second opinion. Just one thought .... as he does have allergies to food could this also be causing the entropian ... I have heard of cases of it on this site!

The vet said possibly ... but it will take 6-8 weeks for the food to really get in his system, if this food even takes care of the allergies. He said it's severe and we really should handle it asap because he's in a lot more pain than he lets on. :(

In that case I'd probably opt for the surgery too ... I couldn't wait if I knew one of my babies was in that much pain! :*(

You 'sound' like you are more at ease. Will you switch to this Dr. as your main one now? Hope your hubby gets back to work soon. The Chunster is such a kewl pup!!! :)

BruceP - Thanks! His work is very off and on, he's in the construction industry so it's tough. We've gotten very good at saving pennies and  for the next job! Hardest part is that now is such a good time to buy a house and it makes it so much harder with his industry!

And I definitely am more at ease! I'm going to keep our regular vet as our main vet, but keep both updated with his records. Dr. Kinnear is about an hour away, so that's a lot for the Chunkster for just a routine check-up. I have faith in our regular vet, there are just times that you want to hear it from "a bulldog person"! Our regular vet did and said basically all the same thing as Dr. Kinnear so she's  in my book!

Glad to hear you found a good Bullie vet and have more peace of mind now. Hope your husband gets back to work soon! If your area is like Az., he won't be out of work for long. They are building everything everywhere in our area!
