    Default Butt Dragging, Clear Discharge.

We started our morning routine at 6am just like
always. Jozi went out, pee'd, poo'd everything
looked just like normal. She came in ate and went
back to bed. This is normal for her. She woke up
around 10:30 and I took her out. Everything still
    looking OK.

We came back in and about 5 minutes later I smell
dog poo. She never has a poo accident in the house.
So I look all over finally behind our bed I find what should
be poo. It wasn't though. It was clear drops kinda trailed
along. The clear drops had bits of poo in them, and it had
a pink tint to it. I know the pink is from blood.

I clean it up and come back into the living room and she is
scooting her but everywhere. Took her back outside and she
tried to go but just the liquid comes out. Then she starts scooting
in the grass. The liquid was pink again. Almost looked as if
it had a vein of blood in it.

I call the vet tell them whats going on the say to have her
there between 2 and 4. But offer no advise as to what it
might be. They just tell me it could be a lot of things. I was
just talking to the girl at the front desk but would like to have
got a better idea of what it might be.

I read the threads about anal glands it doesn't sound like that
since her poo has changed so much. Has anyone had this
happen, or anything like it. Thanks for your help.

A foul smelling clear discharge comes out when their anal glands are full/need to be expressed. With that and her booty scooting, that is the best guess I could make as to what that is.

Wonder why the clear pink discharge? That is
    the part that concerns me.

hmm, i'm not much help, haven't had that problem specifically. just sounds like irritation in the bowels causing the blood, it's good that it is just pink and not lots of red blood or dark. the clear liquid throws me off if it isn't anal gland juice. good luck to my girlfriend jozi! let us know what doctor says.

I don't know.... geez now I am worried. Sounds like anal sacs to me too.....

Okay I just spent some time on google.

Sounds like it could be intestine lining too- this could be caused by several different things. Worms, coccidia, giardia-

Anal sac can be clear but it is usually brown.

UGHH Thanks Desert. I always take Jozi out to the side yard.
Well on the way in I thought she was just playing, eating grass.
When I got closer it was dog poo. It wasn't from her either. She
never goes to the front yard. So I wonder if she got worms that way.
This happened about 3 days ago, maybe 2.

If it's giardia you would have probably seen a softening in the stools before it got to that stage (I consider myself an expert at giardia now ) , that's not to say that it isn't another type of worm however. Let us know what happens ...

Hello from Southern California. I read your chat, and to me it sounds like anal glands, or intestinal infection. When you go to your vet appointment today BE SURE to take with you a SAMPLE of poop, so they can check for any parasites, especially since you said your dog was eating others poop. Dogs may eat other poop or even their own because there is a lack of nutrient in their food. It can become a hard habit to break and constant monitoring and patience is needed. There is over the counter medication you can get from Petsmart for the poop eating, it is called Excel Deter Coprophagia Treatment. I tell you these things from my very own experience with my bullies. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

Sounds like my Vegas....ANAL GLANDS are full! I have to take him about every 4 weeks to get his internally expressed and I know several on this site do as well. I hope this is all it is. I know when he needs his done by the scooting on the rug.

She does have full anal glands. The vet is concerned
with what caused them at such a young age. She expressed
them and gave her some medicine for her tummy. I don't
know much else of what went on. As soon as it was time
to take her to the vet worked called. I didn't get to go.
Thanks for all your help with this.

I would not be worried about full anal glands as a puppy. It is so common with bullies. All three of mine had issues, even as babies. My friend's Boston had to get his expressed at 4 months too. Something about those adorable hips doesn't let them fully express them on their own.

Jozi is a brand new dog!! She has been acting
funny for about 4 days before this. After having
her thing done. She is playing all the time just
seems to feel so much better. So much better
that she almost chewed my laptop cord in half.
I would hate for the vet to have to express my foot
from her glands. Seriously it is amazing how
    much better she feels.
