My poor Will has corneal tears both eyes! He woke up yesterday and wouldn't open his eyes and was rubbing them! Took him to the vet and he's on antibiotics and pain meds. He's a little better today but I find it odd that this happened in both eyes at the same time! He goes back on Monday for recheck he has ectotropin both eyes and they are talking surgery, Anyone have experience with this? Thanks Will and Lynn

We are about to go for Abbotts 3rd entropian surgery. This is the second vet to do it.He will be 3 in February. If not treated it can lead to serious eye issues. His right eye is more severe but this surgery is a must because eyes aren't replaceable as my vet always says.I would definitely do it if your vet suggested it.If they are a good vet all will work out great.Recovery time varies but usually 2 weeks max in our experience :)

Entropion is an essential surgery, it is where the eyelids roll in and cause the lashes to scratch the eyes. It can cause severe damage to the corneas if it's not treated… My advice to you is have a VERY experienced bulldog vet (or eye specialist) perform the surgery. Someone who understands the special needs of brac breed dogs, and are prepared for any emergency.

Hi, I'm sorry you're going through this with Will. Poor baby, I hope he feels better soon. I don't have any experience with Corneal tears or Entropian, only with Cherry eye. I just want to send you hugs and prayers and hope Will is better soon.

One of my dogs had the entropion surgery on both eyes,a year or more ago. She did fine. The worst part was two weeks of the dreaded cone. One other is scheduled to have it done (plus her nares) on Nov.30. you really have no choice-but question about what anesthetic he will use,and how many he has done.
