Sports injury limp or something else?

I mentioned before that Bella has had a limp in her front right leg. It started right after vigorous play with another dog. The vet checked her out and determined that it was a "sports injury." They gave her meds, which helped.

This all was months ago.

Since that time, she's limped periodically, but it was never terrible and never for very long. She would limp when she gets up in the a.m. sometimes.

The other day she started a slight limp again. They noticed it at daycare and suggested an xray.

She is 10 months old. Should I have the vet do an MRI or an XRay? (If I do, she'd need anesthesia again. UGH.) Should I just try supplements?

Previously, they felt her leg and said it feels fine. Didn't seem injured at all. This is why they determined it to be a sports injury.

Anyway, should I worry? What should I do?

hmm.. if it's on and off i would get an x-ray. they don't need to put her under, just sedate her. yes, that has risks but they're minimal, not like anesthesia.

we had a recurring limp and ended up asking for an x-ray. thankfully it didn't show anything bad, but we still had to really keep her calm and basically on crate rest for a long time for recovery. Joints, when injured, will progressively become damaged if not allowed to heal properly.

really? weird..
i'd go by what your vet says and do an x-ray. if there's anything wrong, between an exam and the x-ray they should be able to tell.

X-ray should not require any anesthesia - Tyson had them done for his arthritis, they did have to hold him down but that's it. X-ray is quick & should give you some answers.

Let us know what Vet says, she may just need longer time to
recover (more crate rest) from sports injury.

Cami had one and limped off & on, took in for xrays, that Vet
said do ACL surgery (on the other leg too), sent her home with
pain meds & anti-inflammatories & complete crate rest. After
researching, decided to try joint supplements and no jumping
at all (put mattress on floor, no sofa time, etc) and she healed
fine. I was there when she injured her leg, believe it was more
sprained than torn, we were lucky! Let us know about Bella!

I'm going to have her xrayed today. I was already told that they might have to sedate if she's too wiggly. What type of sedation meds are OK to use?? I told them to call me before they sedate.

We were very lucky, Cali but I had to be very, very good about keeping
Cami crated for 3 weeks & really quiet a long time after that. Absolutely,
no jumping on or off furniture, no outside but for potty & on a leash then
back inside. I ordered a horse joint rebuilder, R-Genex (I think) and she
was kept on the anti-inflammatory awhile. Long after she seemed well, I
still was cautious w/ her, just was paranoid of the surgery & long, hard
recuperation at her age (Cami was 6), I'd lost one already. If this didn't
work, there's always surgery then. Very blessed for sure :) Praying for
Bella's recovery w/out surgery!

It is like a sleeping pill, but in a shot. Like Ellie stated it is not anesthesia
