So my little Roxie is in heat she started April 17 th. my old one Rocco as been very overprotective of her. He tries to mount her we tell him to leave it he does it takes a few times. Also their are times when he gets so mad and he starts growling and bark at us . He's never growled at us before. Is this normal? Rocco has became aggressive and very territorial around her. Need help what to do.

I'd separate them as Rocco might get overheated trying to hump her.
He may also become even more aggressive during her heat progression
and yeah, males get overly excited, dominate & territorial, it's instinctual
and overwhelming. He can't control himself, YOU are going to have to control
this situation.

Yes definitely separate them while she is in heat, preferably as far away as possible. It will drive him crazy if he can be around her and smell her.

If Rocco is not neutered, it's going to be a long haul! I once had a German Shep. female. She had been in heat, and at the day after 3 weeks, I let her out in the back yard.We lived where there were no other houses......
I heard a yelp, looked out, and there she was tied to a Standard Poodle. And so there were 6 Shep-Poo pups!! Oddly enough, they looked like Irish Wolfhounds-and pretty big, too! So it ain't always over when it's over! I would also advise giving her a bath when it is over-to obliterate the "heat" smell!
Some male dogs, even if they are neutered-still can get excited, and an erection, and still think they are "studs".

Ype, as others have said, definitely separate them and keep them separated until she is done and you have given her a bath.

Then you are taking a chance with Rocco's life, sorry but it's true.

One reason bulldogs are so expensive is because it's not recommended
they breed naturally, the males can & do, die from becoming overly
excited trying to mount the female. Vets take sperm from the male and
place in female's womb. Of course, also HIGHLY recommended for pregnant
female to have C-section births vs natural births as it is too dangerous.

Are you planning to breed these two bullies?
