Thread: Purebred?

  1. #1

    Default Purebred?

Hi everyone! We are looking to adopt a sweet 6 yr old english bulldog. The woman we are adopting from says she is purebred but doesn't have the papers. We don't mind if she's not purebred so much, but would like to have some idea what she is mixed with and also how much we should pay since she doesn't have the papers. She is asking 600 obo. Anyway, here is a photo of her (the dog, not the lady lol)......any input would be greatly appreciated!-20141225_152458-edited-jpg

She doesn't look mixed to me, looks all bully. And what a sweet face! Love that you are adopting an older girl, you will fall in love so quick. I believe what she is asking is fair, rescues can charge around that amt too depending on the area, etc. I hope you decide to go through with it, and give her a loving home she deserves. Looks like she's been bred.... time for her to just relax and live the good life. Good Luck!

    My whole heart, Tyson.

Well, I agree that it doesn't really matter if she is purebred. A rescue will charge anywhere from approx. $100 for seniors to up to $650 for younger dogs. Is this woman associated with a rescue? I would be more concerned with medical records for the dog and history IE: behavior, any prior surgeries and such.

Looks like a pure bully to me, what a sweetie. Sorry I have no clue on the cost of a rescue dog.

Definitely looks like a purebred bulldog to me. Personally I wouldn't pay that much for a 6 year old though....unless she can provide a solid health history. They can have a lot of issues as they age and I would rather save some of that money for future vet bills. Personally I would have her checked over by a vet (including bloodwork) so you know of any problems beforehand. Good luck though...she's a cutie!

She is really cute! My first bulldog had ears like that--tulip ears I think they're called. She looks like 100% bully to me.
I don't know about the cost--I mean I'm just not knowledgeable about rescue costs. I'm sure you'll love her!

Agree 100%. Looks bulldog to me but I would say she could be part boxer and offer $175.00. Worth a vet visit first versus $600 and find out problems.

Yes I will be more concerned with full disclosure of the health issues. $600 pales in comparison to potentially large vet bills if she has health issues that need to be addressed. Please exercise caution.
