Was he out on hot cement/asphalt? no injuries to paws?
If everything else about Levi is not out of the ordinary, I wouldn't be concerned. Dogs have higher body temps than us so they may feel "warmer".

This may sound real dumb... But I don't have a themometer for him.. Would it be a regular rectal themometer? Vikinggirl

Also. He was not on the pavement. He is too rotten -- our boy is carried. Lol

Hi, yes you would just use a regular rectal thermometer, you can buy them at the pharmacy. I had one that we used on my Grandson when he was a baby, but hadn't used in many years, as we bought a ear thermometer from Costco and use that on him now. It's easier and quick. I use the rectal one for the dogs now, and I keep it in a Baggie under the sink with the other dog supplies, with a label on it, with their names on it, so nobody else uses it by accident. Lol. I have only had to use it once on Dozer. Does he feel warm anywhere else on his body? How is he today? Is he acting any different? It may just be normal for him if he's fine in every other way.

"Normal temperature: Dogs and cats = 101 °F–102.5 °F. Temperatures below 100 °F or above 103 °F are abnormal." The average temperature of a healthy dog is 101 °F or 38 °C, however, the normal temperature of a healthy dog may range from 99 °F to 102.5 °F (37.2 °C–39.2 °C).

Dogs don't have pores on their bodies to release the heat in their bodies. But they do release heat through their tongue (panting) and the pads of their feet. this is why your dog pants when it exercises even though it may be cool out side its releasing the heat from its body. So it could just be that he is "sweating".

Taking his temp is a great idea , it should be between 99-101 F.

His paws are much better. I'm thinking he may have been a little warm from being in and out so much that day then snuggling with momma and my blankets. Thank yall so much!!
