Hi,
as some of you will know I have had my bulldog for a little over 2 weeks, she is 4 months old. She is the best dog ever. She is obedient and really laid back, happy to watch the world go by and great with my two boys. Just a real sweetheart. She has picked up the rules of our house quickly like no jumping up at the dining table wether we r eating or not. she's not allowed upstairs and she is only allowed on the sofa when we say. But when I was out walking her I passed a friend who was also walking a dog, beau was happily playing with her and they were sniffing each other out and getting on well. ( beau is well socialised with other dogs, she came from a farm that had lots of dogs and other animals ) but when I knelt down the other dog jumped up at me in my face almost ( she was only playing wanting attention type behavior ) and beau snapped at her. I was quite shocked. But when the other dog got down she continued playing with her. Was beau being possessive and have I got anything to be worried about. Or was she just doing right by me. Is this typical behavior ?

This sounds like Beau was protecting her momma from this other dog who got very close to you. She's just looking out for you and wants you to be safe.

Yeah I was hoping for that type of answer, I just didn't know if was a trait of there's, I don't want her possessive of me to the point where she thinks she owns me that's all, I think she was just warning the other dog in a good way for my sake. In that way it's good. I just didn't know if it starts like this cos I have read of possessiveness over humans and toys etc. she does seem to gravitate to me more out of all the family. I have probably bonded with her the best though. I love her, but I just want to point out she does have rules and boundaries x

that's right, you do want to teach Beau her boundaries and that it's okay for you to be with other people and to pet other dogs/animals. I have one bulldog, Finn who is very much like your bully in that he will growl if others get in my "personal space" as we're walking or meeting w/others. He has gone so far as to nip people which of course is not acceptable! One person he nipped was my next-door neighbor who just moved in. The next time we saw him approaching us as we were walking, I made Finn get into a sit position and we both remained calm as John approached. Nothing happened at that interaction, thankfully! :)

I would think about enrolling her in daycare if you can. Orion was 4 months old the first time she got nasty with another dog. I neglected to try and fix the problem and to this day she is dog aggressive. She loves people, but you can't put her in the presence of other dogs. She was enrolled and completed puppy kindergarten and enrolled in basic schooling. She did fine...but once she was out of school, she got kicked out of daycare for being dominant. (after only 15 minutes. I hadn't even had the chance to make it home)

Henny gave you great info... And I agree, it was 'I'm watching out for Momma'
