I did extensive research on this forum for the safest, best reputation poison (pesticide) to give my dog to prevent fleas, ticks, and heartworm.
Ended up with Sentinel, as per its good reputation and a lot of reading.
Here's my problem with Sentinel:
1) It doesn't even kill fleas. It allows them to continue living on (and torturing) your dog for their entire lifetime. It simply renders them unable to reproduce. What is the point of that logic? Fleas live over 100 days. Not only that, but they can freely exit the dog and enter your rug, and household. Impotent or not, the logic of sentinel in this regard completely escapes me.
2) It doesn't protect against ticks. At all. The single most dangerous health risk on this list, is ticks. Health risk both to your dog, and to you. Lyme disease can cripple you and make your final years utterly miserable, if not shorten your lifespan. Lyme and numerous other diseases carried by ticks can kill your dog, and make you very sick. Sentinel does nothing with ticks.
3) It does heartworm fine.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a *SAFE* medication that actually *KILLS* fleas, deters/kills Ticks, and prevents heartworm?
I hate putting pesticides in any living being. They're the most dangerous chemical you can ever ingest. Responsible for countless human diseases, no human would *ever* voluntarily take a pesticide pill. I feel terrible feeding it to my dog. So i want to minimize the risk.
Thanks
