    Default Trifexis and Bullies?

Matilda was put on Trifexis since the moment I got her. We were going to a bully specialist vet then and he's the one who put her on it. She never had any issues.

Recently, I've heard a lot of weird things about Trifexis being dangerous. I asked our current vet, and she said she has never heard of any concrete medical evidence of that. Basically, she thinks that the people claiming Trifexis is dangerous really didn't know about an underlying issue with their pet. Ie, you aren't supposed to use it with dogs who have had seizures or have heart problems. So when owners don't know these things, and give them Trifexis, it can cause problems. She also said that the drugs in Trifexis are not new - vets have used them for a very long time, so if they were the sole cause of crazy health issues, there would be medical proof by now.

What do you guys think? Matilda has never had any kind of issue being on Trifexis - she is perfectly healthy. I'm just not sure what to think about it!

I've read that article before actually, but yes, this is the sort of stuff I'm talking about. However, both vets said there was no medical evidence to support that Trifexis was actually the cause, so I'm not sure what to think?

There is a FB page regarding Trifexis killing dogs, and I know that Cheryl knows someone personally that lost a dog. I will tag that FB page for you, but in the meantime @Libra926 ?!!

Your vet may be correct. Before I took the holistic approach to my dogs I had one of them on Trifexis for a while & never had any issues. However there are many other dog owners who say otherwise.

The drug is controversial, that is a fact. Many have claimed that it has killed their dogs, is that possible? Yes! Could there have been an underlying issue? Yes!

When my dog was on it I was well aware of the controversy. He never had any reactions while on it so I kept him on it.

At the end of the day none of those flea meds are good for your dog and they could have a reaction to any of them. It's best to do your own research.

Trifexis was recommended to us by another vet at one point, so I did my research too. This led me to all the controversial stuff out there about it. I do think your vet is correct, that likely there were underlying issues with the dogs who had a reaction. But my question then became, Do I know for a fact that MY dog doesn't have any underlying issues? Bottom line, it's a choice. But I came to the conclusion that if Trifexis affects dogs (whether there is an underlying issue or not), why would I risk it? With that said, if your baby has been fine, that's your choice to stay on it. Just for reference, we use Sentinel and that has been great. Good luck with your research

I am so sick. I love all of you guys but today I wished I had never heard of EBN. Our Frenchie died back in March. Weesie gave him Trifexis one afternoon in March. His name was Gus. He was only 7 years old. I heard something weird at 2:00 am. I never wake up in the middle of the night. Gus was making a weird sound. I got up. Weesie got up. It was like he was having troubles breathing. In 15 minutes we were giving him mouth to nose trying to get air in him and he died. Weesie kept saying his passing had to do with that medicine. Then I read this post. We basically killed him with that stupid medicine. I am sick.

I gave one pill of trifexis to Leo last month. He ended up vomiting it up in a few hours. Haven't used it after.
