Why do they breathe so fast?!

My EB is almost 5 months old and when he sleeps he breathes sooooo fast!!! I have read that this is common but cant find a good explanation of why!! Thanks!!

Looks at that face.... so sweet! My girl sometimes does this, I think it has to do with dreams or just a little to warm for them.
