As many of you know (and how I appreciate your support), my boy Bocephus didn't just have good old regular cherry eye, he had scrolled cartilage that required surgery by a specialist.
I signed Bocephus up with Embrace Pet Insurance a week after I brought him home and have been paying about $45 per month for the premium. He's currently 7 months old.

He went for surgery on 4/18/14 and the total was $1989.15. I have a $500 deductible (some of the deductible was covered by the pre op vet appointments) and after the deductible, I have a 20% copay.

Today is 6 days after the surgery - and 4 days since I filed the claim and I just got notification that they will be direct depositing $1349.46 in my account within 2 days!!!:yes::yes:

I'm thrilled. I think because I got him signed up so young, it was HUGE in making this a smoother process.

I know people have mixed feelings about insurance but I thought a "happy story" might be good too.

That's fantastic! Yes a happy insurance story is really good to hear, you made the right move by insuring him right away. Hope Bo is coping with the evil cone a bit better. :)

Aww that's great news, I'm happy for you I know every bit helps. We also have insurance for Blossom and Dozer with PetSecure, and we also applied for it when we first got them. We have been happy with their insurance, we have a $400 deductible, and they cover 80%.

Oh he still hates the cone, but he's only got one more week and the stitches in his eyes come out!! He's learning all sorts of ways to adapt to the cone, it's hilarious. We had a horrible wind storm night before last and he looked like he was in a wind tunnel in that thing.

Thank you for sharing this info, Kori and so glad Bo is continuing
to get well, GOD is good! Not all insurances are bad guys, just many ;)
and the main thing is to do your homework, ask others if their claims
were paid, cover the pup BEFORE accepting it and make sure NOTHING
(no vet's notes, etc) are put in pup's file to be used later, against you...
Only actual dxes!

Give Bo some loving from me & Cami <3

He's doing good. He's getting more and more playful each day although the cone is really putting a crimp in his ability to play with some of his toys. He will go back in next Thursday to have the stitches removed. So I'm hoping he'll be a happy, healthy pup for a while after that. Two surgeries in two weeks (neuter and then eyes) is a lot for a bully to take.

That is good to hear. I just got responses on the claims I submitted for Harlea and they are paying as well for her stuff. We have a $200 deductible and they pay 90% after that.
