Hi there, I am a new owner to this special little man. He is 5 months old and doing great. My only concern is that he always sound like he had phlegm in his throat. My vet says this is normal?? Can anyone let me know if that is true? Thank you... :)

Some bullies can be more phlegmy than others. It could be allergies that cause the excess build up. One way to break it up is to give them a squirt of lemon juice. My baby was real bad as a pup but as she has grown it has eased up a lot.

Yes I do have the lemon juice which he really does not like... Lol. He runs the minute he see's it :) I hope he grows out of it. I do have him on a really good diet.. Fromme Surf and Turf grain free. He weighs 27 lbs and is 5 months old so no problem with his appetite.

Harlea hated the squirts of it as well. We eventually just started freezing the lemon juice and giving it to her that way. Why she likes it that way who knows but she takes it just like a normal ice cube. Lol

Hey that is a great idea! Never thought of freezing the lemon juice-I did put pumpkin in the ice cube trays because there is so much in a can!

I would find a good bully vet, it sounds like he has an elongated palate, and will need to be fixed.

Thanks David... Will definitely look for a vet in my area that specializes in EB's.

Thanks for everyone's great advice. We went to a vet today that specializes in EB's and looks like we may need to look into surgery later for Si. He does have an elongated palate issue. I am hoping it will go well. She said the surgery is very high risk and he could possibly not make it through
:-(....

Do all english bulldogs have the trouble with an elongated palate? I am just wondering if maybe I will get Si a BFF later on and want to be sure what I need to be looking and asking about to the breeders...
