After we left the Keys, we drove up the west coast. Never again. Could not find a decent hotel, and winded up staying in places that looked like you could book a room by the hour, if you know what I mean. They were the sleaziest motels I've ever seen. We slept fully clothed and made sure to put those clothes in a separate bag instead of our suitcase. Yeah, it was that bad.

Welcome to Florida! LOL!

Sorry your vacay was a big disappointment. I hope Blue gets better soon. Maybe the sleazy motels sprayed something for bedbugs, which didn't agree with poor Blue. Sending best wishes for a quick improvement!

Thanks everyone.
Just got back from the Vets. He's on Prednisone yet again. She said he's very inflamed- thinks that something in Florida caused it. So it's not his food this time :whew:.

We decided to do the allergy test, the blood work one. She said that the one that's done on the skin is the "gold standard" but it's done by a dermatologist, and he can't be on any type of steroid or anti-histamine prior to the test.
If the blood one doesn't show anything, then we'll do the skin version.
We did speak about the new "miracle" drug Apoquel. She said that it's backordered already (it just came out a month or so ago). Said that the only vets that were able to get it were dermatologists. She'll have it in May but that won't help now.
Besides, I'm not thrilled on putting him on any long term medication, regardless of how safe it is- without trying everything else first.

So now, it's a waiting game. Will find out the results of his test sometime next week.

I was thinking it was just Florida he was reacting to as well. When we traveled it was horrible, there is so many pollens there! I'm sure he will feel better now, please keep us posted on his test results too!

Hugs to you both!!!

Poor you and Blue!! Please tell me the took the blood for the allergy test before they gave him the predisone?
Also, could he have gotten bit up by bed bugs? if the motels you were at were in the condition you state, could that be possible?

Yep, the blood was drawn before he started the pred.

You know, we checked for bed bugs and didn't see any, but who knows. I did wash everything the minute we came home. Wouldn't put anything away before first washing in hot water. So if there were, I really hope everything's dead.
Guess we'll find out soon enough.. ugh.. (my skin's crawling just thinking about it).

Well I think the allergy testing will be well worth it, at least you will know what is going on. Sending hugs & prayers... I hope Blue feels better soon ; )
