Hooey will be 3 years old in April. He has never been crate trained & basically has free run of the livingroom/kitchen area when we aren't home (he likes to sleep on the couch). He rarely has accidents but there are some days he's home alone too long (no more than 8 or so hours) & can't hold it & has accident. We recently got new carpet in our livingroom & I'm worried about when he's here alone on the long days. What are the best ways to crate train him now that he's older? He sleeps in our bed at night (spoiled, I know). I just need him to be comfortable enough with it to go in it when we are gone from now on. I don't want him to feel like he's being punished or end up hating the crate. I see so many pets that love their crate/kennel & I really would only feel comfortable leaving hooey in it if he was that way. Any suggestions??
