metal chain collars and skin allergy

Does anyone else's bully baby exhibit an allergy to the metal chain collars? I can't put one on Sheldon and his neck and chest get a real red irritated look and if I take it off and clean it, it goes away. Suggestions? I really think it might be an allergy to the metal but not sure and was wondering do they make plastic covers that fit over their rabies tags like they do human dog tags?

I haven't had a chain collar on the bullies. I myself am allergic to nickel-which is in alot of non hypoallergenic jewelry. Perhaps there is nickel in the collar-it may not be stainless steel. Yes, I have seen covers for the tags. They are made so the tags don't jingle, but will work for want you want it for.
If you are needing the chain collar for discipline, they now make plastic and nylon slip collars.

I was only putting his tags on it I called it Sheldon's bling. Never used it for walking or anything I use his harness for that. I wonder where I could find the covers.
