Incontinence due to anesthization

I was reading an article that said urinary incontinence can occur after anesthizing. Is there any truth to this?

I have not heard anything abiut it but I would assume that it is possible.

Yeah, it can happen after surgery and anesthetic, and is very common. It usually only lasts a few days. Was Duchess spayed? It is especially common after spay surgery. Stress of the surgery itself, anesthetic, medications, and the incision being in the urinary area can all cause temporary Incontinence. My Blossom was spayed when she was 7 months old, and on the way home I had her on my lap in the back seat on a towel, and she had an accident on me. The vet said some it is due to all the extra fluids they receive through the IV, and then they are sleepy due to the anesthetic and the pain medications, so they can't hold their bladders as well. She also had an accident on her pillow the next night when we were at home. But after that she didn't have any more accidents.

I was curious as duchess will be having the cryosurgery in a couple weeks. She is not spayed

It happened with Voitto when he was all spaced out after waking up from it. It took him quite a long time to recover and he had a few accidents.

The specialist that did Brie's spay said that it can happen but should only last a few days. They recommended taking her out every 2-3 hours if not more for 3 days while her body readjusted from all the fluid.

Brutus had three surgeries and after each one he had a couple of pee pee accidents in the house. He is completely house trained and has been since he was approx 11 wks old. I think there is still a good amount of anesthesia in their little bodies and they have trouble with the feeling of having to pee. It only lasted really the day he came home. The next day he was not having accidents.

My boxer was 9 months old when we got her spayed. As soon as she came home (after spending time outside) she squatted right in front of us and peed in the apartment! It can happen because they can't feel down there due to the surgery. It wore off and she only had 1 accident
