Who has made over there back yard just for the dogs well being?

My yard has been quite overgrown for some time ( forgot to take a picture of it the other day) BF isn't very handy at most times, when it comes to things I need done....

So on that note, as some of you know I grew up in a show home, we had anywhere from 2 - 8+ dogs at anytime. Our back yard was for the dogs we had a few dog runs (hehe or horse runs ) for the chessies or dobies so they had there own space and exersice at will . The back patio was also cross fenced. then we had a HUGE area as well but all of it was clean all the time.

I am thinking about taking my small back yard and strip all the crap out of it and put in pee gravel.

#1 easier to clean
# 2 SEE who :poo: 's what

As it is now we don't do much in the back yard as it is... its too hot in the afternoon to do anything.

We put up a 2' wire fence around our landscaping to keep them out of the plants. That's about it. I think the pea gravel would get pretty hot out there, so I wouldn't recommend it.

HAHA I just finished putting up a new 8 ft tall privacy fence in the back just to keep my dogs safe from the 4 pitbulls that moved in behind us. Please dont get me wrong I have nothing against pitbulls as long as they are raised and trained right (no different then any other dog) but these 2 of these 4 are very mean and have charged my fence several times at me and my dogs.
Not to mention I have fenced all my plants off so they cant get to them and my air conditioner my poor back yard looks terrible but it is safe for my babies :)

It gets hot, real hot in Arizona and we wanted our backyard to be as pet friendly as possible while still giving us the ability to plant vegetables, fruit trees, and flower beds. It has taken us many trial and errors but we have gotten to something that makes the humans happy and the bullies happy too. We spend lots of time in our backyard so grass was a must and so were trees for some shade, then we put raised boxes in for most of the vegetables and flowers, fenced the ones Amber likes to dig in the most; we did leave the carrot box open for her so she can fine tune her carrot seeking abilities. The bullies still like to pick the flowers but for the most part stay out of the raised beds. We are still working on a nice gate for the area that has the grapevines because that area is strictly off limits and for now we have the wooden fence that slides back and forth but works on keeping the bullies completely out of the area. We have a small area we are still working on getting grass to grow but our yard is a work in progress. One picture has my garden bucket upside down; that is Ambers favorite backyard toy to drag around.

Well our yard isn't anybody's idea of "dog friendly" But HRH has never been an outdoor kinda girl so it wasn't a problem.
We might have to make some changes to accommodate Amelia. Right now she thinks everything is edible and all areas and elevations were made for her benefit and to be investigated. Some of the flowers have suffered the wrath of puppy teething. The sedums that are part of our replacement for the traditional grass lawn seem to be none the worse for wear with the daily rompings and wallowing they get. She has mostly ignored the phlox.

Yes it gets hot here too in Arkansas. But the dogs only go out to go potty (except the boxers spend more time as they like to run) and come back in the house. Most of the property is in the front where there is alot of grass and trees.

I wish I would have taken a picture of how bad the BF let it get.. and quite frankly it would be easier for me to take care of as well.

He just cleared out a section of flower beds that were way overgrown with bushes.. LOL there was a hose spicket there I didnt even know about and we've been here for almost 2 yrs.

we bbq out front and everything....

I'll go take a picture of the fence and you can see how high the grass was and how BAD the yard looks....
