Matilda has become the messiest eater ever. She literally mows over her food with her giant head - spilling food EVERYWHERE. Here's the best part: she will only eat the food in the bowl. She refuses to eat it off the floor.

I just got her new bowls not to long ago, so I'm trying to avoid buying new, no-spill bowls. And DIY tips to keep her food in the bowl when she eats?

Remi can be pretty messy but he will go back and clean up. Not happening?

See, Tilly must be a princess too! Princesses don't eat off the floor. And they are entitled to make a mess. They just don't clean it up! And they always leave a little bit of food behind. That's only good manners you know! :girlyes:

Nope, she totally refuses to eat the food on the floor! And yes she is a little princess - that is for sure  but it's not like a little bit of food. She just smashes her huge head into the bowl, so it's at least half of the food ending up on the floor each meal. And then she does the same thing with her water, so the food gets all smushy and stuck to everything. UGH.

Maybe try a slow feed bowl, she can't get her whole head in there.

you could try to put an obstruction in the bowl, such as a rock or a bone. We had to do that with Chunk for a few months, he gotthe hint and slowed down, andstopped getting the pukies after! good luck

Second thought, can't believe a bully would leave anything, including furniture, left behind.

Mabel is quite the sloppy eater. Some days she cleans up after herself, other days not. I think she likes saving a few morsels for an afternoon snack if she gets hungry. :)

Hahahaha these are all great suggestions! I think I will try the slow feed bowl, so she'll stop diving in head-first. Sigh. Thank you guys!

You could try putting a placemat underneath her bowl; at least when the food spills it's on the mat and not on the floor. I do that w/my boys and find it helps a bit w/the messies.

You know she does have a mat. It goes all over - on the mat, next to the mat, across the kitchen... :nope:
